The daughter of an architect and artist, I literally grew up in a studio, either on the drafting board or the drawing board. In spite of this, I grew up loving artistic stuff.
From designing my high school yearbook cover to being an apprentice at the Music Circus Theatre to working as a photographic stylist I have bounced from one art form to another. Along the way I earned a BA in Theatre and Fine Arts. Then I went to American University for two MAs. Later I worked as a graphics designer and had my own business, Consumer Communications. For a time I was also a Speech Writer.
This has, in my retirement, led multi-talented me to create a multifaceted studio. Currently, I design and hook rugs, create watercolors, spin-a-pen for calligraphic works and make Tamari
(Japanese String Balls.)
However, featured on this studio tour will be my current obsession -- Word Abstracts. These are mostly done in watercolor and are being prepared for a book, "One Hundred Four Letter Words."
An exhibition of some of my work can be seen on Facebook (Abby Chapple's Art) or on YouTube in a video by Robert Peak. Look for my name and the title: Words in Wool. Then please come to my Studio. I hope you will enjoy my divers artworks.
